Refractory Molds for Glass Sintering

Summary:

Using recycled glass to make tile in kilns usually requires the use of refractory molds to form the glass. Ideally, the molds should be able to withstand many thermal cycles and not stick to the glass during firing. In this project a commercially available refractory cement was tested.
