Industry Council (GMIC) is a non-profit organization promoting
the best interests of the glass industry, including flat, container,
fiberglass, and specialty glass manufacturers. Their site is a good

Container Recycling Institute (CRI) is a non-profit, research
and public education organization studying container packaging recycling
and reuse. CRI serves as a clearinghouse for information on beverage

The Canadian Glass Recycling Organization is an interactive

chain in Canada. Glass Works, started as a periodic newsletter back
in 1990, has evolved to an online system for sharing ideas and information.

Glass Suppliers
TriVitro Corporation is one of only a couple
of companies in the U.S. processing glass only for specialty uses:
blasting abrasive, filtration media, etc. They can be a source for
buying glass to try in new applications. They have proven to be
reliable and timely for orders, and always provide a quality product.

Recycled Glass Products and Projects
Sandhill Industries makes tile from 100% recycled
glass in Fairbanks, Alaska. The tile is stunning. The fact that they
are doing this in Fairbanks makes them doubly deserving. Ever been
to Fairbanks in January? Makes Buffalo look like the tropics!

Terra Green Ceramics manufactures ceramic tile
using about 60 percent recycled glass. They are the largest business
in the "recycled glass tile" category. Their tiles look
very much like ceramic, but the glass content means they have color
all of the way through.

Council is involved in research, public education, composting

of public support. They also provide a unified voice for the
growing composting industry.

Organic Recycling Council is a membership organization dedicated
to the support and promotion of all aspects of organics recycling.
Their site provides with the basics of large scale composting
and organic recycling activity and links to more detailed information.
They also have a separate project titled "Soils for Salmon", which

critical salmon habitat.

American Plastics Council (APC) is a major trade association
for the U.S. plastics industry. Through a variety of outreach efforts,
APC works to promote the benefits of plastics and the plastics industry.
APC supports economically and environmentally responsible and sustainable
plastics recycling. Since 1990, the plastics industry, as individual
companies and through organizations such as APC, has invested more
than $1 billion to support increased recycling and educate communities
in the US. Major developer and funder of the HDPE Best Practices

Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers (APR) is the
national trade association representing companies that acquire,
reprocess and sell the output of more than 90 percent of the post-consumer
plastic processing capacity in North America. APR is a strong advocate

recycling with technical programs and guidelines.

The Plastic Lumber Trade Association (PLTA) seeks
to promote the industry and the product, work with the ASTM to establish
standardized testing procedures, promote standards of quality within
the industry, and work cooperatively with other groups and agencies.
The PLTA is a membership organization but offers some information
to anyone visiting their website, such as annual reports on “The
State of Recycled Plastic Lumber”.

Wood Recycling Directory in cooperation with the USDA Forest
Service. This on-line directory—updated in 1999—contains a nationwide
listing of over 700 wood residue receiving centers. The directory
