Compost Use in Wetland Restoration (1997)

Project Summary:

Using compost in restoration of wetlands is a potentially high-value application for compost, but lack of information on plant growth and environmental impacts poses a barrier to use of compost in this capacity.

A demonstration project tested, monitored, and evaluated the use of compost in a wetland restoration project. The results indicate that target species' growth and survival rates increased over unattended control plots, and that no degradation of the surface water or soil occurred.
