Development of Landscape Architect Specifications for Compost in Landscaping (1997)

Summary:

One of the largest "paying" markets for compost is the horticultural and landscaping industry. This project sought to develop specifiactions for compost use in landscaping, and further reduce barriers regarding specification of compost in various projects.

Several publications by the U. S. Composting Council were used as the basis for collaborating with academia and industry to create landscape architecture and design specifications. The specifications are written in language and format used by landscape designers. The specification language allows easy incorporation of the specifications into projects and is adaptable to meet specific geographical requirements.
