Analyzing Compensation for Equity and Risk
This one-and-a-half-day course offers guidance on how to conduct a self-analysis for potential compensation discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Equal Pay Act. The course also addresses the compensation analyses required under Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) regulations and covers strategies for managing an OFCCP audit of your compensation practices.
The course begins with a brief overview of the legal and statistical principles involved in compensation analysis followed by the presentation of a sample pay analysis. This is followed by a more in-depth review of the questions that need to be addressed in evaluating compensation systems.
Participants conduct a step-by-step review of a statistical methodology designed to pinpoint workforce units with potentially problematic statistical pay patterns. In addition, non-statistical “cohort analyses” are discussed as a way of determining whether any problematic statistical pay patterns that have been identified can be justified. The facilitator’s use of CWC’s Comp Auditor® II software avoids the need for participants to have a thorough understanding of statistical methodologies. The facilitator also will discuss how to manage an OFCCP review of company compensation system and strategies for conciliating alleged pay violations that OFCCP may find. The course concludes with a demonstration of CWC’s Comp Auditor® II software.
Participants should bring a laptop or tablet device (along with a power cord) in order to access material from CWC’s learning management system during the course. CWC offers free Wi-Fi and power outlets in the classroom.
