CWC’s Updated Anti-Retaliation Communications Template

January 13, 2026

What's New

CWC has refreshed its Anti-Retaliation Communications Template to help guide managers and supervisors when an employee files a retaliation complaint. The updated template, originally shared by a member’s in-house counsel, features a modernized style and tone. Members may use the template to evaluate and strengthen their existing communication practices in consultation with their in-house employment counsel.

What It Means

Retaliation allegations appear in about half of all EEOC and state agency charges, making effective supervisor communication a critical compliance tool. Training managers on how to address employee complaints professionally and consistently reduces legal risk and reinforces organizational culture. This updated template gives in-house counsel a practical example to help ensure communications remain clear, appropriate, and aligned with applicable legal standards.
