DOL Proposes Another Revision to Tip Regulations

On June 23, 2021, the Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division proposed another revision to DOL's tip rules. While the Trump Administration issued final revisions to the tip rules in late 2020, DOL paused the effective date. Since then, it has allowed most provisions to go into effect, but previously proposed changes to provisions relating to civil money penalties. Now DOL is proposing changes to the provisions related to employees who perform some tip producing work while also providing work that is not tip producing. CWC will publish an analysis in the near future. DOL is accepting comments on its proposal until August 23, 2021.
