Panuccio will serve through 2029, joining Acting Chair Andrea Lucas (Republican) and Commissioner Kalpana Kotagal (Democrat) on the Commission. With two vacancies remaining, the Commission now holds a Republican majority and is positioned to advance the Administration’s policy and enforcement agenda.
Key priorities likely to move forward include:
- Narrowing the scope of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act regulations, such as those related to abortion coverage;
- Revising guidance on discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity;
- Updating the agency’s Strategic Plan and Strategic Enforcement Plan; and
- Increasing litigation and friend-of-the court briefs supporting Administration priorities, such as challenging DEI programs and anti-American discrimination and bolstering accommodation of religious practices and observances.
The agency also may consider revising the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures and the EEO-1 reporting requirements.
