New Executive Order to Limit Use of Noncompetes, Limit Occupational Licensing

On July 7, 2021, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that President Biden planned to sign an Executive Order in the near future that would seek to limit employers' use of noncompete agreements and seek to ban "unnecessary" occupational licensing requirements. According to Psaki, the Order will seek to implement these new policies through rulemaking to be conducted by the Federal Trade Commission. CWC will publish additional analysis when the Executive Order is signed.
