Our state standards tools help members stay on top of evolving state and local compliance requirements.

E-Verify Laws Private Sector Employers

Similar to federal contractors’ obligation to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of new hires to work in the United States, a number of states have passed laws requiring state contractors and subcontractors – and at times, all covered employers – to E-verify the employment eligibility of all new hires. In our E-Verify Resource Tool, CWC identifies the states with E-verify requirements and identifies the specific obligations employers must follow to comply with these requirements.
