California Pay Reporting Updates for 2024

Thursday, February 22, 2024

In 2024, California employers with 100 or more employees nationwide (and at least one employee working in California) will once again be required to file an annual pay report with the California Civil Rights Department. Employers must annually report the number of California employees by race, sex, and ethnicity by federal EEO-1 job categories and pay bands, along with hours worked. Some employers are also required to submit a similar report on their “labor contractors” hired during the previous year. In connection with the 2023 reporting cycle, CRD has updated its online resources detailing what covered employers must do to comply with these dual pay data reporting requirements. Regrettably, as has been the case with each of the three prior reporting cycles, the changes CRD has made are likely to increase the burden on filers.
